What is the "Other?"
In the stories that are told, on this continent, in the world, an image of the Self is defined.
He is defined Huckleberry Finn. He is defined Jay Gatsby. He is defined James Bond. He is defined Marty McFly. He is defined Lester Burnham. He is defined Steve Rogers. He is defined God.
As a culture and a society, that is how we define the Self.
Upon the Self, lies the dignity of humanity.
The Other lies counterpart to the Self.
The existence of the Other is dependent on an exclusive Self.
As we tell stories of the Other, of their perspectives, of their dreams, of their struggles, of their lives, the Other then can be defined as a part of the Self.
